FAQ
How do I register for Moms Who Marathon (MWM)?
Registration for any MWM program is available by clicking on the registration link on the website. Look for the city where you live, and the registration form will be available.

If I register for MWM in New York City, am I in the ING-NYC marathon?
No. Registration in MWM is just for our training program. You will need to register for the ING-NYC marathon - or any marathon - through their websites. Links to the major marathons are available on our website; please click on the "links" button above.

So how do I register for the ING-NYC marathon, and how does the lottery work?

Go to www.ingnycmarathon.org. If you are a member of the New York Road Runner's Club (www.nyrrc.org ) and have run 9 or more of their qualifying races in the calendar year BEFORE the year of the marathon you want to enter, you have automatic acceptance. Otherwise, acceptance is by pure lottery. All the names go into an electronic hat, and whoever gets in, gets in. Please check their website for details.

How do I register for my marathon?
We have links to the major marathons on our website, and you can follow the links to their registration pages. Otherwise, check the Runner's World Magazine (www.runnersworld.com) marathon calendar, which lists almost all of the marathons in the US and Canada, with links to their home pages.

I've never run more than 5 miles. Can I run a marathon?

Yes! If you have the will and determination you should be able to run a marathon.
The program is progressive and will gradually build you up to make sure you are fully prepared for the big day.

I want to train with my friend but she's faster/slower than I am. Can we still train together?

The MWM program is based on heart rate intensities. Most people don't match up exactly with their friend(s). You can certainly meet and start your runs together but you may drift apart a bit, especially during long runs, due to the different heart rates. The good news is that you may make a new friend in your MWM group, who does run the same pace. Additionally, not all of the training is running so you and your friend can do some of the other training together.
