ABOUT MOMS WHO MARATHON
Founders:
Mike Monroe is a 1988 graduate of the US Naval Academy and served as an officer in the US Marine Corps for 12 years. Currently, he is the president of HM4 Fitness LLC , a fitness and training company based in New York City. He is also the Program Director and the Head Trainer for PUSH, a personalized dvd fitness company. He and his wife, Courteney, have one son and a daughter.
Charity:
Mike feels strongly that if you are fortunate enough to be able to train for and compete in an endurance race, you should support others who can only dream of participating in an event such as a marathon. As a veteran of endurance competitions, Mike alone has raised over $180,000 to fund research into spinal cord injuries; and our Moms raised over $30,000 for the charities of their choice. We hope that each successive group of Moms will push that number ever higher! And unlike other groups, we won't tell you who to fund-raise for or set a minimum on how much you have to raise, but we do insist that you pick a charity that is important to you and use your amazing effort in training and running as a means of getting your friends and family to support you in every way.
Chief Mom:
Every Moms Who Marathon team has two primary means of support to assist you in your training. Your coach, of course, is there to teach you proper technique and to answer any questions relating to training or injury. You also have access to a chief mom, who is most likely one of the moms running alongside you, who is there to help with all administrative questions and to hold your hand through the rough spots. She is available to help with all of the scheduling and detail questions that seem too silly to be asked, but aren't. |
